Games developer Croteam has announced that Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope will be released via Steam Early Access on 17th October. In a little under a fortnight HTC Vive owners will be able to indulge in some virtual reality mayhem, virtually standing in Sam's boots, while dual wielding "an overwhelming amount of explosive ordinance" and doing battle with relentless mental hoards to save the galaxy.
Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope was first announced at E3 this summer. As you might expect, the game is a fast-paced first-person action game where General Samuel Serious Stone has to dish out destruction to both familiar and new franchise foes. To start a game you select a mission from the battle-cruiser Saratoga roster and beam down to the planet surface straight into the action. Planets have multiple levels with various bosses. Meanwhile Sam has access to "lots of guns" dealing different types of damage useful on different types of foes. There are extra guns and powerups to be picked up along the way. However, this isn't a free roaming FPS world, Sam is instead put into scenes to face waves of enemies.
Croteam is "working around the clock" to get Serious Sam VR ready for the newly announced Steam Early Access launch. It is envisioned that it will be in its Early Access stages for approximately six months before "achieving its full potential".
