Paradox Interactive has announced a single-player story-driven RTS called Ancient Space is due out on Windows PC and Apple Mac this autumn. The game was developed by Creative Forge Games. "Ancient Space is a single-player, real-time strategy title that puts the player in command of a fleet conducting a scientific mission on the edge of the known universe, charting what lies beyond in ‘The Black Zone.’," Paradox said in a press release.
With regard to Ancient Space's gameplay, the game will allow players to "build, maintain, upgrade, and strategically command a multitude of ships in tactical battles and missions," whilst fighting off aliens, pirates and "the unknown".
The developers focus the game entirely on single-player content, with none of the online multiplayer components which are usually found in modern RTS games. Paradox promises that Ancient Space will have a "rich and compelling" storyline, where players will be guided as they build and upgrade their fleets in order to survive the odds in "deadly strategic missions."
In order to give the game even more sci-fi geek appeal, making it more convincing and 'realistic', the publisher has taken on actors from popular sci-fi films and television shows to voice several characters in the game.

- Richard Gunn (Dark Angel)

- Dwight Schultz (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager)
