Io Interactive has announced that the High Dynamic Range (HDR) update for Hitman will be available later in January. If you have held off buying this game since March it might be worth looking into now, as the Complete First Season has recently been released and will be delivered as a physical edition (including SteelBook Edition) at the end of the month.
HDR support will bring a new depth to the graphics and scenes of Hitman. As explained by Io Interactive programmer Anders Wang Kristensen, strongly bright and dim areas of a scene will be viewable simultaneously. "With HDR we can draw the sun several times brighter, so that it is actually close to being blinding, just like in real life," such effects won't have to be simulated anymore, noted Kristensen.
To celebrate the arrival of the Complete First Season, Io Interactive has released the 101 Gameplay Trailer. The season is available online right now (£39.99) but it will see a disc release, including a SteelBook Edition, at the end of January. At this time HDR support and 4K support will be added in a free update for existing owners. Beyond the PC, consoles including the PlayStation 4, PS4 Pro and Xbox One S will get HDR support, and it looks like the PS4 Pro will get 4K support.
The 101 Gameplay Trailer, above, recaps the episodic series of Hitman expansions that have been released since March. We see Agent 47 in locations from Paris, to Sapienza, Marrakesh, Bangkok, Colorado, and Hokkaido. In each of the locations there are many ways to play through and replay the game missions to achieve your objectives.
