Games software goliath Electronic Arts had quite a lot of games to show at the E3 expo, which kicked-off yesterday. There's some big IPs here, including Star Wars Battlefront, Battlefield Hardline, Mass Effect 4 and Mirror's Edge 2. Among the best of the rest we also saw a new racing game IP from Criterion and Bioware's Dragon Age: Inquisition. Among the other offerings were some sports games like FIFA 15, Madden 15 and a new PGA game using the Frostbite engine, and The Sims 4.
Star Wars: Battlefront
Star Wars Battlefront is a highly anticipated title which is expected to arrive in spring 2015. DICE/EA presented a video looking behind the game's development, where producers and artists visited iconic places where first three Star Wars movies were shot - to distil some authenticity to their developments.
Battlefield Hardline
We previously saw some leaked details about Battlefield Hardline, so it wasn't so much of a surprise. The game, developed by Visceral Games, involves cops and criminals; "Battlefield Hardline puts players right in the middle of the war on crime in the gritty and glamorous streets of Los Angeles and Miami, allowing gamers to live out their fantasy of being a cop or a criminal."
Steve Papoutsis, Vice President and General Manager of Visceral Games said about the concept behind Hardline "The cops and criminals fantasy is a great new backdrop for Battlefield and allows us to introduce an impactful story, while still maintaining that intense multiplayer action that fans expect. Best of all, the beta allows lots of fans to jump in and play immediately."
The game is powered by the Frostbite 3 game engine. It will be available in late October on PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. A closed multiplayer beta is available to PS4 and PC/Origin Battlefield owners.
Mass Effect 4
Mass Effect 4 is in development at Bioware's Montreal studio, while the original Mass Effect developers, Bioware Edmonton studios, are now working on a brand new IP. It is set in a "whole new region of space," with new characters new enemies and new worlds to explore.
Mirror's Edge 2
EA also announced a new Mirror's Edge. The main character Faith, has new moves and parkour skills which are essential to the foundation of this fast flowing action game. The game is said to bring Faith to a new generation (the previous game was released in 2008) with sleek fast movement and combat. This game also looks set for a 2015 release.
