Nvidia is preparing a new game bundle for imminent availability, to boost the attractiveness and hence sales of its higher-end GeForce GTX graphics cards. Starting from Thursday 7th January, Rise of the Tomb Raider will be bundled with select graphics cards and with hardware equipped with select Nvidia GPUs. The information seems to have slipped out a little prematurely via a Russian Nvidia newsletter.
This bundle is a bit of a surprise move by Nvidia, as the Tomb Raider series games from Square Enix have recently been AMD Gaming Evolved titles. The latest outing for Lara Croft is expected to retain AMD's Tress FX on the PC platform. The game has already been available on consoles such as the Xbox One and PS4 for a number of months. On the day the bundle goes live it should be widely available for PC, at outlets including Steam's online store.
To qualify for a free copy of Rise of the Tomb Raider you will have to purchase one of the higher end Nvidia graphics cards or hardware equipped with the same level of GPU from a qualifying retailer. According to the news source the GTX970, GTX980, GTX980Ti desktop GPUs, and computers powered by the GTX 970M, GTX 980M and GTX 980 graphics processors will qualify for the bundle. This bundle will expire on 23rd Feb or when 'stocks' of the code run out, whichever is sooner, as usual.
