Seems Corsair's on the peripheral warpath. Having already introduced a new line of keyboards and mice, the company has also taken the wraps off a revamped range of gaming headsets.
The trio of new additions, all introduced as part of the ever-expanding Vengeance product line, are set to supersede the company's existing HS1 and HS1A solutions when they arrive at retail next month and will lower the cost of entry to as little as £34 courtesy of the all-new Vengeance 1100.
Best described as Corsair's baby headset, the Vengeance 1100 utilises a behind-the-head-design that promises "excellent comfort for long online gaming and chat sessions", as well the convenience of both USB and 3.5mm analogue connectors.
The £34 solution isn't going to be the first choice for audiophiles, but Corsair is nonetheless touting "amazing audio quality" from the unit's 40mm drivers and noise-canceling cardioid microphone.
Moving up the ladder, the Vengeance 1300 (pictured above) is armed with 50mm drivers in an over-the-head form factor. The headset at first glance appears to be a like-for-like replacement for the existing HS1A, but Corsair tells us that the drivers have been re-engineered for "audiophile-grade sound and accurate 3D positional audio".
The headset has also been visually tweaked to provide a more sporting aesthetic, but we're not so sure about the blue Vengeance trim. It might suit the gaming crowd, but it isn't as elegant as the outgoing silver-on-black HS range.
Like the HS1A, the Vengeance 1300 is equipped with dual 3.5mm headphone and microphone jacks for connecting to a PC-based soundcard or a dedicated audio player.
Rounding out the trio is the Vengeance 1500, which, as you might have guessed, is a direct successor to the original HS1. Making use of 50mm drivers and a noise-canceling microphone, the 1500s are very much an extension of the 1300s but feature USB connectivity and Dolby Headphone technology - the latter allowing this headset to emulate 7.1 surround sound using an on-board audio processor.
All three headsets offer in-line volume control and microphone mute, and will be available at retail this October with a suggested price tag of £34 for the Vengeance 1100, £69 for the Vengeance 1300 and £89 for the Vengeance 1500.
