Now that we're in the new year, you can expect rumours of the PlayStation Phone - an apparent combination of the PSP and a Sony Ericsson handset - to gather pace in the lead up to some of the industry's major events.

Sony has yet to officially announce the hand-set, but snaps taken from last year appeared to show a prototype of the phone, which apparently sports a slide-out PlayStation-style control pad. Now, some crystal clear videos have emerged from Taiwan that appear to show the phone in all its rather bulky glory.

This phone is said to sport a 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8255 processor, a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and a 4-inch LCD display with an 854x480 resolution. It also apparently has a noise-cancelling microphone, 512MB RAM, 512MD ROM and a microSD, SIM and micro-USB slot. Rumours last year, also suggest that it may come loaded with a special version of the Android Marketplace geared to selling Sony games.

All eyes are on the Mobile World Congress which kicks off on 14 February 2011 in Barcelona, where it's rumoured that Sony could announce the new product.

After the X10 upgrade fiascos you'd be daft to buy one of these. Just check the @SonyEricssonUK twitter feed to see how annoyed current customers are!
