Team up in co-op or go head to head with another Overlord

HEXUS: And how do you buy these upgrades and tower enhancements?
Andrew:Throughout the levels you'll find crates and carts of Gold.

HEXUS: Can you tell us about the online aspect of Overlord?
Andrew:There will be 6 maps split across three modes. There are two death match maps which are called slaughter, where one Overlord pitted against another Overlord. They'll be a map with two spawn points, and you can either go out and try and kill the overlord straight away or they'll be tower objects hidden around the map guarded by large monsters. You can look to take them down to steal the tower objects which will increase your minion cap, or spells that you have available or you can play evil, wait for your opponent to kill the monsters and then kill them and steal the tower objects.

The next mode is Survivor, which is two-player co-op. You need to survive for as long as possible against a multitude of enemies. The final mode is Pillage, where the object is to retrieve gold rather than to actually kill.

HEXUS: Any plans for downloadable content?
Andrew:There will be more multiplayer maps available for download and we're also thinking of increasing online to 4 players rather than just 1-on-1.

Overlord is currently planned for a summer release on Xbox 360 and PC. We'll have a full hands-on preview shortly.

smells a bit like black and white.. only darker :)
Yeah sounds good, bit of a laugh rather than the usual round of games out at the moment, like Viva Pinata.

Seems like finally developers are bored of some of the franchises.
Sounds like a cross between Dungeon Keeper and Fable to me. Looks like it could be pretty good.
Someone compared it to Pikman on the GameCube. I've never heard of it though. Definitely a bit of Fable in there, but it's not free-roaming at all.

It looks great fun, but we weren't allowed to play it, so I didn't really want to give my impressions when they might not be too accurate. It's easy to get excited about something by looking at it, but then it might actually be boring to play.

It's certainly different to anything I've seen on the Xbox 360 and it does look as though it will be a good laugh to play.

Should have preview code coming soon, so I'll write up full impressions then.
