Introduction
The AMD graphics arm, formerly known as ATI, has been late, repeatedly, in launching its next-generation architecture. The Radeon HD 2000 series are still, annoyingly, a little way off, and retail partners are twiddling their thumbs, working out how to excite the customers with products that haven't changed for a while.
Sapphire has always been one to push the boat out somewhat, launching special edition SKUs - often overclocked and custom cooled - at regular intervals.
During this year's CES show Sapphire demonstrated an in-house-designed PCB that, effectively, positioned two Radeon X1950 Pro 512MiB cards together, complete with individual framebuffers and linked up via internal CrossFire.
We know that the Radeon X1950 SKU has been a popular seller, mixing high-end heritage with an attractive price, but does that appeal still hold true for this unusual model? Read on to find out.
