More AM2 fun
It seems that the hot issue at CeBIT 2006 this year (besides NVIDIA’s 7900 series) is support for AMD’s AM2 CPUs and ASUS have got an impressively large range of boards for the job.
First up is the M2N which features the NVIDIA MCP55S chipset, utilises DDR2 with a 2000MTs FSB and also sets you up with 3GB/s SATA RAID, Gb LAN and high definition audio.
Next we have the M2N32-SLI DELUXE mainboard, which, as its name suggests, come fully loaded. Using NVIDIA C51D and MCP55P chipsets, this board lets you enjoy some SLI goodness as well as giving you a 2000MTs FSB for that DDR2 memory, dual PCI Express x16 for your SLI cards, dual Gb LAN 3 Gb/s SATA RAID, IEEE 1394a and 8 channel high definition audio… this is probably the daddy of the lot, to be honest.
Now we come to the M2R32-MVP Deluxe, the Crossfire version of the new AM2 mainboards. This features ATI Crossfire Express 3200 and ULi M575 chipsets to get your dual ATI card fun and then does pretty much everything the board above does with a 2000MTs FSB for that DDR2 memory, dual Gb LAN 3 Gb/s SATA RAID, IEEE 1394a and 8 channel high definition audio except you get dual ATI Crossfire PCI Express technology instead…. So that’s one all for the reds and greens!
Moving on, let’s see what else we’ve got… there’s the M2V, which uses the VIA K8T890 and VT8237A chipsets. You get the usual (for AM2 boards) 2000MTs FSB for DDR2 and Gb LAN, 3 Gb/s SATA RAID and high definition audio.
Next in this expansive range is the M2NPV-VM which is based on the NVIDIA GeForce 6150 and nForce 430 chipsets with a 2000 MTs FSB but this time with integrated VGA featuring DVI-D and RGB outputs. You also get 3 Gb/s SATA RAID, Gb LAN and IEEE 1394a… one for the media center perhaps?
Finally, we’ve got the M2N32-WS Professional. Using the NVIDIA C51XE and MCP55PXE chipsets this mainboard features a 2000 MTs FSB, dual DDR2, NVIDIA PCI Express x 16, 3 Gb/s SATA RAID, dual Gb LAN, PCI-X architecture and 8 channel high definition audio.
