Mobile graphics solutions seem to be getting ever closer to the performance of their desktop brethren. Of course, there will always be some difference, and power consumption is even more of an issue for the mobile market. ATI has today announced two new mobile graphics products, slotting in underneath their Mobility X1600.
The new processors are named Mobility X1400 and Mobility X1300. The Mobility X1300, much like its desktop counterpart, is aimed at the mainstream laptop segment. Mobility X1400 however, is aimed at thin and light notebooks demanding graphics performance and power saving features.
Both processors are constructed using a 90nm process, support Shader Model 3.0 and feature ATI's Avivo technology for video playback enhancements, HD video decode assist and transcoding acceleration. The latest version of ATI's power management software, PowerPlay 6, which you'll find in the Mobility Radeon's driver, is supported.
One item of note in ATI's press release announcing the launch is that is seems product may be made available sooner than we're used to:
Notebook designs with Mobility Radeon X1300 and X1400 will commence shipment by leading OEMs immediately and continue through the end of Q1.
"Immediately". That's one word we like to see, and hope to see more of.
