Gigabyte seems to be taking Intel's Smart Response Technology (SRT) to heart.
While telling us about its vast array of Intel Z68 powered mainboards, the manufacturer has also announced at least four upcoming SKUs, that will add onboard mSATA connectivity to the mix.
Specifically mentioning the mSATA version of Intel's 311 Series SSD, Gigabyte enthuses that SRT allows users to experience system performance , similar to that of SSD-only systems, thanks to block-based caching of applications - which should deliver increased performance and responsiveness. In PCMark Vantage, for example, Gigabyte Z68 mainboards using SRT apparently deliver more than twice the performance of hybrid-drive systems, and up to four times that of traditional hard drive systems.
We're told that the initial SKUs adding onboard mSATA connectivity to the fray, will be the Z68XP-UD3, Z68XP-D3, Z68AP-D3 and Z68P-DS3 - all of which should appear in June.
