Still winning!
Bit of a shameless SEO story this, but diverting nonetheless. Everyone must be aware, by now, of actor Charlie Sheen's crazy rock-and-roll lifestyle. Even Radio 4 was discussing the concept of ‘seven gram rocks' yesterday. And this massive public profile has caused Sheen to enter the Guinness Book of Records.
And no, it's not for anything salacious, although it would be great if they had records for things like: ‘duration of uninterrupted partying', or ‘number of sexual partners in 24 hours'. This record provides the only justification we need for publishing this story on HEXUS: Sheen has become the quickest to acquire a million Twitter followers.
Sheen only opened his Twitter account on 1 March, but within 25 hours and 17 minutes he had hit the big one mil - which included your voyeuristic correspondent.
According to Guinness World Records, this achievement came only two weeks since rapper Lil Wayne (is it bad that I've never heard of him?), set the record for most ‘likes' on a single Facebook post in 24 hours. But then Lil, (or is it Wayne?) was aiming specifically for that record with that post.
If, inexplicably, you've had better things to do and have missed out on the most recent round of Sheen antics, this ABC interview seems to be definitive right now. Sadly embedding has been disabled. While we don't in any way condone or encourage drug use, Sheen's outright refusal to give the media the kind of ‘my drugs hell' contrition they're clearly looking for is an amusing sub-plot.
