Dell's hard at work today, releasing two new systems at completely different ends of the size-spectrum.
First up is the diminutive Zino HD 410 mini-PC, which provides some significant updates to the older Zino HD family. Right in line with leaked details that we heard last month, the new models will get the choice of single-, dual-, triple- or quad-core AMD mobile CPUs up to the 1.7GHz quad-core Phenom II X4 P940. These should provide a huge boost over the dual-core Phenom I-based CPUs in the older Zinos.
The chipset has also been upgraded to include a Radeon HD 4250 graphics-core as standard, though the option to step-up to a 1GB HD 5450 is there to provide a little more oomph if needed. It can also be configured with up to 1TB mechanical storage, a Blu-ray reader and up to 8GB DDR3.
The case still measures less than eight inches in each direction, meaning that the sleek little box will make a great addition to any living room as a HTPC and an excellent alternative to a similarly-sized nettop. The new Zino HD 410s are available immediately from Dell with prices starting at £429. Unfortunately, Dell is offering lower-spec configurations starting at just $299 (£233 inc VAT), but only to customers in the US.
At the other end of the scale is a new family of all-in-one touchscreen PCs. The Inspiron One is built around a 23in 1080p LED-backlit multitouch-capable screen, while featuring all of the same configuration options as the Zino HD 410. This means you'll be able to equip the AiO with quad-core CPUs and a mildly-capable discrete GPU.
While the Inspiron One won't be able to handle too many cutting-edge games, you can always connect a console to the HDMI-input to get your gaming fix. The system is available now from ‘select retailers' in the US for $799 (£623 inc VAT), and should be available from Dell online - as well as in the UK - later in the year.
