Windows 7 may have been selling like hot-cakes since it launched last October, but apparently that isn't enough for Microsoft. In an attempt to move as many people as possible up to its latest OS, the company has announced the return of the Family Pack.
The offer will entitle users to three Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade-licences for the knock-down price of $149.99. This is only $30 more than the MSRP for a single upgrade-license, making it ideal for anyone with two or three boxes still running an older OS.
Of course, being upgrade-only licences, each PC will need to be running a genuine copy of Vista or XP.
The Family Pack will be available from retailers in the US on October 3. Availability in Canada, Germany, France, Australia and the UK - among other markets - will follow on October 22, the first anniversary of Windows 7's launch.
Pricing for non-US territories hasn't been announced, but we'd expect the pack to retail for £149.99 in the UK, as it did last year. This isn't as big of a discount as the US deal, but it still represents a hefty saving.
The Family Pack will only be available while supplies last, so those interested should find a copy as soon as it becomes available next month.
