ASUS has today confirmed that 12 of its existing AMD motherboards will support the upcoming hexa-core Phenom II X6 processors, codenamed Thuban.
Thought to be arriving at retail next month, AMD's first six-core consumer processors will continue to utilise a socket AM3 design and will initially feature clock speeds ranging from 2.6GHz to 3.2GHz. The range-topping part, dubbed the Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition, has been rumoured to carry a US price tag of $295 and could become a favourite among enthusiast users.
If you're thinking of picking one up and have an existing ASUS AM3 board, the Taiwanese manufacturer has revealed that the following models will support the Phenom II X6 line via a BIOS update:
