Point of View is set to expand its range of mini PCs with the launch of a system based around Intel's Core i3 530 "Clarkdale" processor.
The compact 220mm x 330mm x 129mm system, dubbed the Mobii Core i3 miniPC, aims to deliver on four key areas; excellent performance, massive features, small form factor and high energy efficiency, says Point of View.
On the performance side of things, the Mobii Core i3 miniPC makes use of a mini-ITX motherboard based on Intel's H57 Express chipset and a 2.93GHz Intel Core i3 530 processor with integrated Intel HD Graphics.
A potent combination that's paired with 2GB or 4GB of dual-channel DDR3 memory at speeds of up to 1,333MHz, and up to 500GB of storage via a 3.5in hard disk. 10-channel audio is provided courtesy of a Realtek ALC889 audio chip, and can be output via digital SPDIF or analogue 5.1. Other connectivity options include a total of 12 USB 2.0 ports, four SATA ports, eSATA, Gigabit Ethernet, and both DVI and HDMI.
Expansion possibilities are decent, with the system sporting two 3.5in drive bays, a single 5.25in bay - which features a DVD writer as standard - and a single PCIe x16 slot within, allowing an easy upgrade to discrete graphics.
The Mobii Core i3 miniPCcomes equipped with a 250W internal power supply and will ship with Microsoft's Windows 7 Home Premium operating system, and though it looks a promising little box, there's currently no word on when it will be available, or how much it will cost.
