OCZ has made available a firmware update for its Summit Series SSDs that offers TRIM support to users of Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system.
The VBM19C1Q update, available from ocztechnology.com, promises to "restore performance on Summit drives back to new conditions by freeing space and consolidating blocks of data".
OCZ's latest firmware should come as no surprise, as the company's Summit Series SSDs - available in 60GB, 120GB and 250GB capacities - are made by Samsung and are practically identical to Corsair's recently-updated Performance series line.
There's no mention of whether or not the firmware update will function on Samsung's own drives, but OCZ - like Corsair - warns users to backup their data prior to the update, adding that the upgrade process will completely wipe the drive.
