The enthusiastic folks over at G.Skill are at it again. After launching the world's fastest tri-channel DDR3 memory kit back in June, the Taiwanese manufacturer is today following up with the world's fastest dual-channel DDR3 kit - the PI series 2200.
G.Skill's speedy 4GB kit, pictured below, consists of two 2GB modules, each certified to hit 2,200MHz at 1.65V. Latencies, too, aren't bad at 7-10-10-28.
We're told that the kit is "specially tuned for Intel Lynnfield Core i7 870, 860 processors," and - in addition to featuring G.Skill's PI-series heatspreaders - it'll ship with the company's Turbulence memory fan.
There's no word on pricing just yet, but G.Skill reckons the kit will be available "immediately". It's likely to fetch a premium, and though the enthusiasts will be keen to lap it up, it's likely to offer little in terms of a performance boost when compared to slower, cheaper modules - the generous quantity of L3 cache on Intel's Lynnfield parts is to thank for that.
