We were only just getting round to trying out Firefox 3.6 Beta 1, but it looks as though Beta 2 is now already available.
The latest release expands on Beta 1 with more than 190 bug fixes - and if that's not a good reason to upgrade, we don't know what is.
Despite remaining a beta release, Mozilla claims Firefox 3.6 Beta 2 is "considered to be stable and safe to use for daily web browsing," but warns that many third-party Add-ons may still be incompatible.
Mozilla lists Firefox 3.6 Beta 2's complete list of what's new as follows:
- More than 190 bug fixes from the last beta to improve performance, stability, security and features.
- (New in this update) A mechanism to prevent incompatible software from crashing Firefox.
- This beta is available in more than 45 languages - get your local version.
- Users can now change their browser's appearance with a single click, with built in support for Personas.
- Firefox 3.6 will alert users about out of date plugins to keep them safe.
- Open, native video can now be displayed full screen, and supports poster frames.
- Support for the WOFF font format.
- Improved JavaScript performance, overall browser responsiveness and startup time.
- Support for new CSS, DOM and HTML5 web technologies.
We recommend users err on the side of caution when approaching any beta release, but those who prefer to walk on the wild side can find Firefox 3.6 Beta 2 available to download at Mozilla.com.
