Intel bombarded the mid-range back in September with the arrival of its P55 chipset and accompanying Core i5/Core i7 processors, and though we found Intel's latest to be potent, many consumers might have been holding out for a couple of upcoming connectivity features - namely SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb.

Fortunately for those waiting for a GIGABYTE solution, the Taiwanese manufacturer has today announced seven boards equipped with "GIGABYTE 333 onboard acceleration". The three threes, in case you're wondering, represent USB 3.0, a third-generation SATA 6Gb interface and a 3x boost in USB power.

The seven boards in question are the GA-P55A-UD6 (pictured above), GA-P55A-UD5, GA-P55A-UD4P, GA-P55A-UD4, GA-P55A-UD3P, GA-P55A-UD3R, GA-P55A-UD3 and GA-P55MA-UD4.

Do the names sound familiar? They should, as they're upgraded revisions of the P55 boards launched by GIGABYTE back in September. This time around, the P55"A" denotes the addition of USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb.

A uPD720200 controller from NEC makes USB 3.0 possible, whilst a Marvell 88SE9128 controller is to thank for the benefits of third-gen SATA.

They will. Just give it time.
Now you *need* to buy a few SSD's to make sure you fill up the available bandwith (poor person crying face). On the other hand, i would fo thought the P55 boards people wanted included a non-melting Foxconn socket regardless of price.
