The fourth beta release of AMD's ATI Stream SDK is now available, and it promises to be the "first complete OpenCL development platform".

The software development kit, available to download from developer.amd.com/streambeta, is "certified fully compliant with OpenCL 1.0 by the Khronos Group", says AMD, and arrives as the next major step in encouraging developers to harness the power of the GPU in everyday applications.

Using the SDK, developers can offload highly parallelised tasks to the GPU, and a range of AMD's latest chips are supported - including ATI Radeon HD 4000- and 5000-series desktop solutions and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4000-series mobile solutions.

All the details, including a complete list of supported cards, can be found at developer.amd.com/streambeta.
