If you didn't like the look of MSI's AMD Yukon-based X-Slim X410 notebook revealed last week, you might prefer the Intel alternative - dubbed the X-Slim X400.

The system, pictured below and first revealed back in May, is arriving in UK stores today priced from £499.

The X400 forms part of MSI's "super slim, ultra stylish" X-Slim range, and you'll find it equipped with an ultra-low-voltage Intel processor, integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics, a 14in 1,366x769 display, 2GB of DDR2 memory and a four-cell battery as standard.

Despite measuring 349mm x 234m x 24.5mm, the system tapers out to a thickness of just 9mm, giving it a thin-looking finish. It'll come equipped with Microsoft's Windows Vista Home Premium operating system, Wireless N, Bluetooth and Ethernet connectivity, and HDMI out.

Highlighting the price gap between Intel CULV and Intel Atom-based systems, MSI's base model, the X400-074UK, offers a 1.3GHz Intel Pentium SU2700 processor and 320GB of storage for £499. Going up a notch, the X400-038UK provides a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Solo SU3500 processor, 500GB of storage and an external optical drive at a total cost of £569.
