MSI's X-Slim series of notebooks have been making a name for themselves due to their MacBook Air-like appearance.
Unveiled at CeBIT earlier this year, the series debuted with a 13.3in screen - putting it up directly against Apple's ultra-thin alternative, and a step above the ultra-small netbook segment. Today, MSI's aiming higher by announcing two new additions to the X-Slim series - the 14in X400 and the 15in X600 (pictured below).
According to MSI, both notebooks have set records for lightness in their respective size categories, with the 14in X-Slim X400 weighing roughly 1.5kg and the larger X-Slim X600 weighing in at 2.1kg. Both measure less than an inch thick, sport HDMI connectivity and feature an Intel Core 2 Solo ULV processor.
Graphics in the X400 come courtesy of Intel's GMA 4500MHD IGP, but the X600 raises the bar by squeezing in a discrete ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330. Impressive, considering that the system is - for the most part - very thin.
We're told to expect an optional 8-cell battery for the 14in system, and a useful 9-cell option for the 15in X600. Could be a very solid offering, if the price is right. We're expecting to see both notebooks at next month's COMPUTEX so stay tuned for our in-depth coverage live from Taiwan.
