Toshiba's 8.9in NB100 netbook, launched last year, has now been augmented with the better-specified Dynabook UX - a 10.1in model that certainly looks the business.

The resolution stays at 1,024x600, but Atom processor is bumped up to an N280, operating at 1.66GHz with a faster front-side bus, sat on top of an Intel 945GSE mainboard.

Three USB2.0 ports, 802.11b/g WiFi, 100Mbit/s Ethernet, SD-card reader are all expected features, and the Dynabook will be available in either 'snow white' or 'brown satin' finishes.

1GB RAM (non-upgradeable, it seems) and a 160GB mechanical hard-drive supplied with Windows XP Home SP3 make it a reasonably high-end netbook, which is reflected in the expected price of some $600 when officially launched later on this week.

Weighing in at 1.13kg with the basic battery and geared more towards business with its thin aesthetic, we'd opt for an Intel CULV-powered netbook if dumping $600+ on one.

$600 = £600+ … for an unspectacular netbook…I don't think so somehow.
If this was supposed to be high-end, why didn't they include a dual core Atom 330 and 2GB ram?
That's what I've been wondering with a lot of these Atom netbooks (not to mention their sort-of-desktop counterparts)… where's the dual-core 330 CPU? Whilst you don't *need* a dual core CPU, even on XP once you have AV/security software installed, and a couple of browser windows with flash playing (cough Hexus!), that 2nd core will seem really handy!
surely for that price u might aswell get a 12" laptop…
Im pretty sure Intel put something in place to stop the use of the Dual cores in netbooks, could be wrong though.

Also why arnt they using the Ion platform? Or have a decent screen?
