We've had a hankering for Intel's 65W Core 2 Quad processors since their introduction back in January, but early pricing revealed a price hike of over Ā£100 when compared to same-speed 95W models - too much for most to stomach, we felt.
Fortunately for those contemplating buying one, Intel's three 65W Core 2 Quad models - namely the Core 2 Quad Q8200s, Core 2 Quad Q9400s and Core 2 Quad Q9550s - could be subject to a price cut on April 19th.
That's according to Chinese newspaper Digitimes, who claims that motherboard manufacturers have revealed forthcoming price cuts of around 13 per cent. If the reports hold true, the 2.33Ghz Q8200s, 2.66GHz Q9400s and 2.83GHz Q9550s will fall in price by $49, $43, and $32, respectively.
Looking ahead, those same motherboard manufacturers claim Intel will be launching two new additions to its Core i7 lineup on May 31st - including the 3.33Ghz Core i7 975 Extreme Edition, priced at $999, and a 3.06Ghz Core i7 950, priced at $562.
No official word from Intel just yet, but we're keeping our fingers crossed for price cuts on the 65W quad-core range.
