Shuttle may be known for its cute small-form-factor systems, but its XPC range can also pack quite a punch. Take for example the latest edition to its XPC Prima range, the Shuttle Barebone SX58H7.
This unassuming system, pictured below, is filled with a choice of Intel Core i7 processors - including the ultra-high-end Extreme Edition. Shuttle's proprietary mainboard features Intel's X58 chipset + ICH10R controller, and opts to take the four DIMM slot approach, allowing for a 3+1 triple channel configuration.
Measuring 32.5cm x 20.8cm x 19cm, the system has room for only one 5.25in optical drive bay and one internal 3.5in hard disk. There are two PCIe x16 slots, allowing for CrossFire or SLI configurations - but note that there's only room for a pair of single-slot cards, two dual-slot cards is a no go.
Feeding it all is a 500W power supply, and the system's kept cool by a vapour chamber and heatpipe technology dubbed I.C.Evo. We're loving the glossy-black chassis, but our concern is that the smaller-than-usual fans might prove to be noisy as they endeavour to keep the high-end innards cool.
