It appears NVIDIA will be taking its high-end bullying GT200-series GPUs to the mainstream sooner than we thought.
A leaked drawing of what is claimed to be a GT218 graphics card has been unearthed by the folks at VR-Zone, and there's a useful list of specifications to go with it.
According to reports, NVIDIA's GT218 is a low-end offering that'll act as a successor to el-cheapo GeForce 9-series based on the G98 GPU. Although we're taking each and every leaked specification with a pinch of salt, we're told this particular sketch shows a GT218 SKU built on a P692 PCB.
It's believed to feature a core clocked at 550MHz, 32 shaders clocked at 1,375MHz and 512MB of DDR3 clocked at an effective 1,600MHz. Armed with just a 64-bit memory interface, it doesn't sound mighty impressive. What makes it unique, though, is the fact that it should be the first NVIDIA GPU to built on a 40nm fab, and it's rumoured to carry a max TDP of just 22 Watts.
It's merely speculation for the time being, but we've a sneaky suspicion we'll be seeing some GT218-based cards next month at CeBIT '09.
