AMD must have been wearing a smile when Alienware announced that its M17 notebook would be armed with two Mobility Radeon HD 3870 GPUs in CrossFireX configuration.
Now it's time for the green team to enjoy the limelight as Toshiba's Qosmio X305, pictured below, features not one, not two, but three NVIDIA GPUs.
Packed inside that hideous unique shell is a pair of dedicated GeForce 9800M GTS GPUs in SLI configuration, and a GeForce 9400M IGP. Thanks to NVIDIA's Hybrid SLI, the GeForce 9800M GTS GPUs will only kick in as and when required, keeping operation cool and quiet at all other times.
The result, says NVIDIA, is is a notebook that delivers "record-breaking gaming performance at high resolutions". Speaking of resolutions, the Qosmio X305 - despite its triple-GPU goodness - provides a 17in screen with only a 1,680x1,050 resolution.
The system is available in two models; the Qosmio X305-Q706 and Qosmio X305-Q708, the latter of which beefs things up with the addition of a quad-core Intel Core 2 Extreme processor and a 128GB solid-state drive. Prices start at around £1,300 and go upward of £3,000 depending on specification.
It might be one of the most powerful notebooks around, but surely it should have been made available in green?
