Super Talent, a California-based manufacturer of Flash storage solutions, has announced a new line of storage upgrades for owners of ASUS' popular netbook series; the Eee PC.

The upgrade comes in the form of mini PCI-Express SSDs - available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities - designed specifically for the Eee PC. Super Talent is aware of the fact that certain Eee PC models offer just 12GB or 20GB of storage, and it hopes its mini PCI-Express SSDs provide a natural upgrade path for consumers.

The units will provide maximum read and write speeds of 40MB/sec and 15MB/sec, respectively, and will be in mass production next month.

Super Talent lists the expected street price at $53, $79, and $149 respectively for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models.

That's actually pretty good.

I was imagining them charging the same price as the Eee for a module (or at least something that would make it seem a bit pointless. But £75 for a massive storage boost is great!
so is there any way i can stick that in a PCI-e slot?

Would be perfect for my MediaPortal client
Funk, Super Talent says the PCI interface is customised to work with the Eee PC 701, 702, 900, 901, 903, 905 and 1000.

Don't think it'll plug into any old PCI-e slot, unfortunately. :(
damn :(
there are mini pcie -> pcie 1x adapters around.. but they are mucho expensive

edit: found a cheaper one, still $100 though
