Lenovo has today officially announced its first netbook offering; the Ideapad S10. The ultra-portable system will go up against the likes of ASUS' Eee and MSI's Wind, and it offers more of the same.
The Ideapad S10, pictured below, measures 250.2mm x 183mm x 22-27.5mm and weighs just 1.1kg. It'll feature Intel's 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, a 10in LED backlit screen, and Microsoft's Windows XP operating system.
Though a release date has yet to be confirmed, the system will debut in two variations when it reaches the US market. There will be a choose of a 512MB memory, 80GB HDD model for $399, or a 1GB, 160GB HDD model for $450.
Outside of the US, Lenovo is said to be adding to the line-up with a Linux version featuring a 9in screen. Though, details are yet to be confirmed.
It isn't a bad looking netbook, but it doesn't offer a whole lot that's new. The keyboard is 85 per cent of a full-size board, and the system doesn't offer Wireless N. There's more storage capacity than your average netbook, but a SSD will cost you extra. Battery life, at three hours, isn't quite long enough, either.
Lenovo lists the Ideapad S10's specification as follows:
- Integrated 1.3M Camera
- 2 stereo speakers
- Multi-touch Pad & near full size Keyboard (85% full size)
- Integrated Wireless 802.11 b/g,10/100 Ethernet, Bluetooth
- Express card slot for WWAN expansion
- Up to 2-GB Memory
- 4in1 Multi-card Reader
- Form factor: 250.2 x 183 x 22-27.5mm, lightest configuration of 1.1 kg
- Large Panel 10.2” wide, LED backlight 1024x600 WSVGA
- Intel Integrated Graphics GMA 950
