Recently announced priced cuts aren't the only good news coming from NVIDIA this week. Its forthcoming 9800 GTX+, pictured below, will launch next month with a special set of Forceware drivers, v177.39.
Why are they special? Well, NVIDIA tells us that v177.39 will introduce PhysX support to its GeForce 9800 GTX+, GeForce 9800 GTX and its new GeForce GTX 200 family of GPUs.
GeForce PhysX support will introduce the world’s first physics API for both the CPU and GPU, and NVIDIA promises it'll deliver "a terrific performance boost" for the likes of 3Dmark Vantage and Unreal Tournament 3.
In other words, the arrival of Forceware v177.39 will see the fastest single-GPU graphics-card, NVIDIA's GTX 280, get that extra bit quicker. Though the driver appears to be provide PhysX support to a limited number of cards to begin with, NVIDIA plans to roll-out PhysX support to its entire GeForce 8 and 9 series products.
