A jolly big well done to all our HEXUS folders! On January 30th 2008, the HEXUS Folding@home team was already doing a stellar job and ranked as 245th in the world. Today, less than three months on, our team is ranked as 190th, and rising!

If you're already well aware of Stanford University's Folding@home project and want to join the HEXUS team, our team ID is 69776.

On the other hand, if you've been living on Mars for the past few years and don't yet know what Folding@home is all about, here's a little description provided by Stanford University, founders of the project:

"Folding@home is a distributed computing project - people from throughout the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Every computer takes the project closer to our goals. Folding@home uses novel computational methods coupled to distributed computing, to simulate problems millions of times more challenging than previously achieved."

Here are our team statistics as of today, April 18th:

Can we break into the top 100 by Christmas? It won't be easy, but that's the challenge. If you're looking for details on how to join the HEXUS team, Joshwa has provided a complete guide on "Setting up Folding@home" and if that doesn't answer your queries, feel free to pose any questions in our dedicated distributed computing forum.

About time the team got some recognition :)
Now those that don't fold yet, time to start, for the greater good ;)

We have tried to give it exposure…:

Would be good if someone could do a weekly piece for us to put on the mainsite? Volunteers? :)
I don't mind doing it, unless you have someone more suitable.
Got a lab machine folding away for an extra boost now - but only when I'm in uni :)
The help thread will need re-writing too… as too many people think you can only do it with GFX GPUs

I will re-iterate that pretty much anyone with any type of hardware can fold, from the Uber boxes and farms down to me with my 6 year old T-BredB! Not got a PC up to it? Use your PS3!
Your box doesn't need to be on all the time, just when you're surfing it'll use all those lovely spare cpu cycles for the greater good.

Interested? Get yourself into the distributed computing threads and ask questions… We're a friendly helpful bunch!

I can help out 0ID if needed.
