Fast selling Eee's are gonna sell like hot cakes now
ASUS isn't struggling to sell its Linux-based Eee PCs by any means, but adding a Windows XP option to its arsenal is surely going to further boost its sales.
Fortunately for Windows fans who've been waiting for it to happen, it looks as though it'll be happening sooner rather than later. April 9th to be exact, that's when ASUS expects to ship the XP-based Eee.
US customers will be able to pick it up for a tidy $399 from Best Buy. Unfortunately, there's no mention of a UK or European release just yet.
The hardware inside the Eee hasn't undergone any changes to make way for XP, you'll find the same innards as you would with a standard Eee PC 4G. Don't therefore be expecting to run all your applications on top of XP, you'll eat up the 4GBs of hard disk space quicker than you'd think. Rumours indicate that ASUS is contemplating the addition of an SD memory card to help with storage, but nothing to that end is official.
Will XP sway you toward an Eee? Or are you holding out for the higher-res touchscreen Eee PC 900? Share your thoughts in the HEXUS forums.
