Windows and Office get security updates and service packs
Microsoft has issued its latest set of updates and patches via its Windows Update service. Various vulnerabilities, three of which were rated as critical and effect Windows Media, Internet Explorer and DirectX, were fixed as part of the 7 updates made available yesterday.
Users of Microsoft's Office 2007 will also have noticed a significant update for the software suite in the form of Office 2007 Service Pack 1. The service pack provides little in terms of new features and maintains an emphasis on performance and stability.
Last but not least, the recently covered release candidate of Windows Vista Service Pack 1 has also been made available to the public at Microsoft's Download Centre. As the service pack is indeed a release candidate, typically the final stage before RTM, we'd recommend users tread very carefully with this one.
