Earlier today, Samsung announced that it has now sold over 30 million GALAXY S and GALAXY S II phones worldwide. That’s 20 million for the June 2010-born GALAXY S and already 10 million for the five-month-old GALAXY S II.

It’s evident that Samsung phone sales are on the rise, despite recent legal ramblings with arch-rival Apple. The future is looking bright for Samsung, who appears to be running at full steam with an array of upcoming devices planed, including the GALAXY Note, GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus, Wave 3, Wave M, Wave Y, GALAXY Tab 8.9 LT and, as HEXUS reported just last week, specs for the Galaxy S III have already emerged, albeit in very leaky manner.

We're not too surprised with Samsung’s performance though, because recent devices have been top-notch in all areas. What will be interesting is now that Apple has distanced itself from the South Korean giant, will the quality of Samsung’s new designs hold up to scrutiny?

The mobile world is watching and waiting eagerly, Samsung.

Has to be said, The Galaxy S has been one of the best over all phones I have ever had. It really is a great phone…good screen, very speedy and able to handle just about everything I throw at it. I am a very heavy user of phones, not only txting & calling but spotify, games, films etc and I cant fault it at all! :)
The flash performance is excellent :)
doesnt hold a candle to my HD2 :P

Nice to see Samsung doing well though, rather samsung than Apple….

Erm, no actually - thought the consensus was that the “leak” was a false one that some dimwit made up and decided to release out there for a laugh.
Personally speaking, I wasn't that impressed with the leaked information and didn't see much progress from the current SII - certainly not the “game changer” that was promised. In which case if those specs are real then I think Sammy's going to get laughed at when they launch the SIII at next years MWC. Maybe I'm just deluding myself, but I'm holding out hope for the quad-core, large battery, NFGC, super resolution screen, etc that was theorised before the leak. I don't need any of those things now (well apart from the large battery) but given mobile contracts seem to be pretty much 2 years these days, I obviously want to buy something that's not going to be an embarrassment 12 months after I buy it.

Maybe I'm just in a bad mood today, but I take issue with that comment since it seems to state that Samsung have been (slavishly?) copying Apple's designs. I don't think we can say that until found proven in the courts - and personally I've got some doubts as to the validity of Apple's case.

I don't count myself as a Samsung fan, (actually I don't own any Samsung gear - TV's a Sony; netbook/tablet is Asus; PC monitor's from LG; and the phone's also a Sony), but I've been quite impressed with the SII when I've given it a spin, and as a result the SIII was at the top of my hit list for my next mobile when the time comes around next year.
crossy

Hey crossy, by waiting to see what Samsung's designs are like is just saying well let's see if there really was a link, because honestly no one knows really and hopefully we'll see that Samsung product designs really are great (I swapped iPhone for SII so I certainly think that so far).

Should never trust leaks which is why it's reported as a leak, though you can never be sure that a leak wasn't real after all :P There's been a lot of conflicting information out there mostly because Samsung have so many new devices coming out. Let's wait and see.
