Microsoft’s MSN has launched a new site and application that tracks and displays the top trends on Twitter, Bing and news site BreakingNews.com

Aimed mainly at youngsters who want to keep up-to-date with all the latest gossip, msnNow collates all the latest topics in real-time and then presents the most popular items in short text snippets so users can read about why certain phrases, personalities or stories are hot gossip.

"It cuts through the clutter of the Web, providing an up-to-the-minute view of breaking trends and the hottest social conversations, what people are saying about them, and why they matter," Microsoft said in a statement on Wednesday.

On the right-hand side of the home page, there’s a top 10 table of all the latest trends which updates in real-time. When users click on a topic, msnNOW displays the latest Twitter and news feeds relating to that phrase.

At the time of writing, Ghostbusters 3 is talk of the town, due to the original star Bill Murray recently claiming that he and Rick Moranis want to bring a third iteration of the popular movie to the big screen in the next few years.

Users can also split up the gossip into various categories, including sport, entertainment and money.

The new site is available on PC, tablet and mobile phones. There's a Facebook app too.
