Graphics-card maker Point of View has announced that it's joining the tablet market with two new Android-powered devices under its Mobii brand.

The larger device features a 10.1in capacitive multitouch-screen running a tablet-standard 1,024x600px resolution. Taking care of the hard-work is a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 250 CPU that should be able to manage Flash content on Android 2.2 without too many problems. The tablet will ship with 512MB RAM and 512MB of flash storage, but this is expandable up to 32GB using a Micro SD card.

The tablet will be able to hook up to wireless networks and while it only support 802.11b/g, there will also be an optional 3G adapter should you need wireless access on the go. Rounding out the package is an HDMI output, USB host ports and what appears to be a front facing webcam.

PoV has also announced a 7in Mobii tablet, though its specs are much less impressive. The screen is limited to 800x480px and the touch-interface is of the less-responsive resistive variety. The processor is still based on the dual-core Cortex A9 architecture, but it's provided by Rockchip and limited to 600MHz, while the RAM has been cut down to 256MB. Even the OS has been cut back to Android 2.1. The one plus is that storage starts at 4GB, while 8GB and 16GB models will also be available.

Even though all of these sorts of tablets look fairly similar, the press shots for the Mobii tablets - as well as the specsheets - remind us a lot of the ones announced a few weeks ago by Dixons. We wouldn't be too surprised if the hardware powering these tablets turned out to be exactly the same.

We don't have any details yet on pricing, but PoV has said that both models will be available from major retailers in November. However, Overclockers UK already has what appears to be an imported version of the 7in tablet available for £149.99 for a 4GB model and £174.99 for a 16GB model (both including VAT).
