Sky+ app now lets you download On Demand shows to your Sky+HD box whenever and wherever you are

Customers using the Sky+ app can now download an On Demand show to their Sky+HD box at home from anywhere in the world. Simply browse Showcase, Catch Up TV, TV Box Sets or Sky Movies sections, find the show you want, press 'Download' and the Sky+HD box will start downloading the show straight away.

Luke Bradley-Jones, Sky's Brand Director of TV Products, commented "The Sky+ app is incredibly popular with our customers; with over 2 million using the app every month and in October alone over 2.4 million shows were set to record using the Sky+ app. We know the way our customers are watching TV is changing and On Demand has become much more popular. Over 3.4m homes with a Sky+HD box connected to broadband are now downloading around millions of On Demand shows and movies every week."

Also in this update, customers can explore the week's best TV and movies in the Showcase section of On Demand even when the Sky+ app is not connected to the Sky+HD box. So no matter where they are it is always possible to see new TV shows have previews and the latest blockbuster movies out that week.

How to get the new features

  1. Your Sky+HD box will need to have the latest software, currently being rolled out to all customers with a compatible box.
  2. Download the updated Sky+ app from the Apple app store or from Google Play.
  3. Connect your Sky+ app to your Sky+ HD box via Wi-Fi so that it can check that your box has the latest software.
  4. Then next time you're out and about, you'll be able to download On Demand shows to your Sky+HD box.
