PRESS RELEASE

Whether you choose to dock your iPhone or iPad mini or stream music wirelessly from any Bluetooth phone or tablet, the DS8400 from Philips will ensure that your music always sounds superb.

Part of the reason for the DS8400's great sound is down to the careful design of its shape with an attractive curved front fascia and rear cabinet. By removing the square box, Philips has minimised sound reflections, while the curved shape also naturally provides high rigidity and anti-vibration properties, all of which combines to reduce any ‘blurring' effect to the sound.

The DS8400 also features two 3" high quality full range drivers each matched to an optimized bass pipe with aerodynamically profiled ports exiting at the rear of the cabinet.

And unlike some docks which only accept an analogue input, the DS8400 uses Philips' advanced pure digital sound processing technology to accept a digital input to ensure all processing is handled digitally, direct from the iPhone. The result is a much higher signal-to-noise ratio ensuring sound is not tainted or distorted in any way.

The overall result is a highly detailed, crystal clear and natural sound with deep and tight bass, so all music is reproduced to the highest quality.

The sound performance can also be customised via Philips free SoundStudio App which includes both a standard five bar equaliser and the intuitive MySound personalisation feature.

MySound allows listeners to adjust the sound by simply running their fingers around the screen between four corners marked as: ‘powerful, ‘warm', ‘bright' and ‘clear' with the sound automatically adjusted on moving towards a particular style.

The SoundStudio app also gives eays access to thousands or Internet radio stations broadcast worldwide.

Convenience continues with the DS8400's clever mains/charger base unit. When used with mains power the unit sits hidden under the DS8400 charging the internal battery. The unit is then left behind when the dock is carried away making the DS8400 lighter to carry.

Battery life is an impressive five hours.

An audio-in connection, allows direct playback of content from portable media players while the supplied remote control compliments the design and finish of the dock.

The DS8400 will be available in July with a RRP of £250.
