Asus is gearing up for Computex Taipei with two special press events in Taipei just ahead of the big technology exhibition. First of all, at 2pm (GMT + 8) on 30th May in Taipei, Asus is hosting its Zenvolution event. This will undoubtedly cover an expansion of its sleek Zen range of devices, spanning smartphones to AiOs. Later in the day, at 6.30pm Taiwan time, Asus ROG will showcase a pile of goodies for PC gamers under the banner of Join the Republic.
Zenvolution
We expect new Zen-styled laptops, AiOs, smartphones and tablets to be shown off at this event. Currently Asus reserves the Zen range for its slimmest 'Zen design language' devices, often featuring concentric circles and swathes of aluminium. However, all its phones are ZenFones, and many sources tip that the ZenFone 3 series will debut at this pre-Computex event.
In its new smartphones it is expected that Asus will introduce at least a few models with fingerprint sensors incorporated and make a concerted move to USB Type-C. Back in April we saw the first glimpse of the ZenFone 3, as the Reddot world of design awards site published some pictures of the upcoming device, alongside a Zenbook UX330.
Join the Republic
Asus ROG will have a dedicated pre-Computex event for its PC gaming devices and peripherals, as well as its own booth space at Computex proper. We should expect some big announcements because, as Asus points out, 2016 is the 10th anniversary of ROG. (Hopefully more than just the new ROG copper/silver colour scheme). I'd like to see some entry level AMD Polaris equipped gaming laptops from the brand.
Computex Taipei starts in three weeks time, it runs from 31st May to 4th June this year.
