Driving a hard bargain
Hot new Windows Phone 7 handset, the HTC Trophy 7 has popped up for sale on Amazon's UK site despite being ‘exclusive' to Vodafone in the UK.
The phone was unveiled mere days ago but is now for sale on the website and according to The Inquirer, HTC doesn't know where Amazon has got the handsets from as it confirmed they should only be sold via Vodafone.
Intriguingly the handset, which boasts a 3.8 inch touchscreen, 5MP camera and 8GB memory among its features, is priced at a hefty £429, which seems a little over-the-top seeing as it is available on contract with the phone giant, costing £25 a month for 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data over 2 years.
WP7 wannabes might also be interested to know that a higher-spec handset, the HD7, which is pricier on contract is reportedly available on PAYG for a more reasonable cost.
At the WP7 launch event HEXUS found out that HTC's HD7, with its massive 4.3 inch screen, 5MP camera and novelty kickstand will be available exclusively from O2 for £40 a month including 900 minutes, unlimited texts and 750MB of data. Yet the handset will also be sold as a PAYG handset from O2 for £379.
So it seems PAYG fans will be able to get a largest phone via a phone company for less than a cheaper handset sold over the web. Hmmmm.
