Google+ user Florian Kiersch has recently released a video he made which shows vamrious aspects of Google's new cloud bookmarking tool called 'Google Stars' in action. The new tool, which Google is currently testing (dogfooding), will allow Chrome browser users to share, save and organise Web contents to view later. Google Stars will organise one's media links into images, videos, web pages, emails, Maps locations and so on, whilst allowing the user to make folders, view all their content at once and create filters. Apparently this Google Stars system is "more beautiful than bookmarks" too.

Take a look at the video below:

As you can see in the video, we get a clear picture of the tool's layout and application. The main screen will show all the items a user has marked as favourites, along with the option to break this content down by folders and user filters.

The folders created by a user can be set to either public or private visibility. Starred media contents inside the folders can also be organised and moved between them. Each folder will require a name and a description and folders can also be created within folders. It is unclear at this time whether it is possible to hot-link to images and video.

Managing folders will be completely based on drag-and-drop and users can also add notes to individually Starred items. For your safety Google Stars is said to scan the content on the Starred page, and detect if the media contains malicious content or is a dead link to automatically archive these items so they are not in the way.

Sharing will be possible with public folders using a generated link, allowing easy access and synced contents across all devices. Google is also making it possible for users to search the entire text of their Starred content using its rich search integration.

We hope to hear more about Google Stars at Google I/O 2014, and we are looking forward to an expansion of the tool onto Android and maybe even iOS mobile devices.

Another Google tool for me to ignore entirely.
Interesting, I use Google Keep to share weblinks, images, etc. between my phone and PCs. This sounds like a more dynamic and potentially more well structured version of that. Want. :)
I'm with Saracen on this one.

Same. Looks like a mix of Chrome bookmark sharing, Keep, dropbox public linking all rolled into one :)
Sounds like they are gunning for a portion of Pinterest's functionality.
