VIP Computer Centre Ltd (VIP), the UK's leading independent distributor of computer components and peripherals, today announced the successful commissioning of a new Warehouse Management System (WMS), bringing time and cost savings to VIP and their customers alike.
A dedicated VIP implementation team conducted extensive research and evaluated responses received from an 'invitation to tender', before selecting Highjump as their WMS software partner.
The new sophisticated WMS SQL databases manage the entire process from stock integrity, receiving and put away to pick routines and despatch documentation, driving efficiency throughout. Sales orders are interfaced and WMS automatically plans the most efficient path through the warehouse. As products are picked they are scanned, improving selection accuracy by warehouse personnel. This level of tracking provides management with a real-time order progress tool to monitor order fulfilment performance and enables a continuous evaluation of the process. A development is planned to create a customer interface via the VIP web-site by mid-2009, providing customers with the option to track their orders from placement to delivery.
VIP believes these stock management and operational efficiencies will benefit customers in terms of competitive pricing, advanced order status information and improved documentation for each and every package shipped. This progression makes it even easier to work with VIP and adds further value to the service they provide.
VIP continues to invest in the business infrastructure to ensure the company is well placed to meet the increasing expectations of its customers. The WMS investment totalled £350,000 and is a further demonstration of VIP's commitment to its partners.
