A little history. My first experience with Scan, almost two years ago, left me with a very poor impression. Long story short, a damaged case on arrival and the resulting experience with their RMA left me with a £20-ish hole in my wallet, lots of wasted time, and a pledge to not deal with them again. As a result I stopped buying from them, and even found it strange when I noticed Hexus (my top three source of information when it comes to PC Hardware) and a good number of members were happy with Scan. I also found it a bit odd when I noticed Scan providing more PC enthusiast gear then when I first bought from them. Still, it took the most recent free carriage offer before I gave Scan a second look. I happened to need a new HD, and found the WD3200JB to provide a good balance between cost, size and performance. I also bought a SATA cable and a simple HD cooler with it. The order process is was simple enough. However, I do not understand the need to provide more than a username and password for logging in. The shipping is great. I\'ve used Ebuyer often in the past, and it is so refreshing change to get next day delivery. All items were bubble wrapped (multiple layers), with no box. As the item arrived undamaged, so I will assume it is adequate. However, this method is till different from what I am used to for HD (I usually get them in a box fixed on both end). I am not sure whether this matters. Overall, I will consider this purchase experience as \"Excellent\". I have not rated the customer service, nor their RMA service as I\'ve not had to to use it (touch wood). I will for the time being overlook my past experience with their customer service (which looks fine now especially with their involment with Hexus) and RMA as it has been a good while. Scan is back on my radar for future PC component purchases. Well done. |
