Hi,
after finally being done with the massive ordeal it was to order from these guys, I thought I\'d post with my experience.
Let me just say that if there was nothing wrong with the hardware, this site would have gotten a perfect rating. Their website, pricing, shipping, sales support are all excellent. But as most of you know, it\'s when something goes wrong that you really find out about a company.
First and foremost, I must complain about their terrible customer service. While they do normally respond by email within 2 hours, this isn\'t always the case. And the much bigger problem is that their responses are usually short and uninformative, forcing me to email over and over again just to figure out what the hell is going on. Throughout this whole ordeal, I never ever received an apology, even after numerous screw ups on their part, and never received an email longer than 2 sentences even when I\'d write a page of complaints. Of course, they don\'t have a phone number listed either.
I ordered all my parts on January 17th. The MSI 6800GT had just been listed and wasn\'t in stock yet. It came in stock about 4 days later and the order was shipped quickly. When I installed everything, I soon found out that the graphics card had a major flaw. I would get serious graphical corruption in most games within 5 minutes or so. I returned it, paying £18.50 of my own money to return a defective product. It took them 3 days of pestering for them to admit they had received it, and only on the third day did the RMA guy actually look for it. Without me emailing them, I would have received no updates whatsoever. I asked how long it would be before getting a replacement and received no response, but suddenly, before I even knew it was being tested, I was issued a replacement. Total turnaround time: 6 business days. Joy gave way to extreme frustration when I opened the package only to find that the MSI 6800GT had been replaced by a Nvidia reference board. Emailing them only let me find out that this was MSI\'s doing, but of course Tekheads felt no need to even warn me that this was happening. I wasn\'t impressed, but at least I had a working system...
...For about 3 days. Then my Gigabyte SLI motherboard decided to literally destroy itself over the course of one day. I disassembled my computer AGAIN and shipped it back to them, paying £18.50 of my own money AGAIN. Once again, they were super slow to realize that they had received the board. I sent it on a Tuesday, by Friday I asked them when they were going to get around to it, and the guy said it would be done by the end of the day. I emailed them again at the end of the day and the guy responded \"Until we receive your board, there\'s nothing we can do\"
Finally, they had tested it by the following Tuesday, and sent me a replacement MSI board, which was good of them (one of the only reasons I didn\'t give them the lowest ratings). But of course, with my amazing luck, City Link lost the package. I called City Link, tried to figure out what was going on. Two days later, City Link finally admitted they lost it. After threatening never to shop with them again (as if I will anyway), Tekheads responded to my ultimatum and sent out a replacement that day so I could get it before the weekend.
So in the end, it took over a month, £40+ of my own money, dozens of hours of my own time, just to get something I paid for. While defective hardware isn\'t the store\'s fault, they certainly did a terrible job in helping me fix the problem and on the whole, were super unhelpful, uncourteous, unapologetic, just basically didn\'t give a rat\'s ass.
