I bought a 2500+/NF7S/256Mb from Alex. Good comms, excellent packaging (the bubble wrap was worth the money alone :D ) Would definately deal with again A+ |

I've bought a few cheapo bits from eBuyer (modems, floppies, keyboards) as they were the cheapest i could find. Good quality stuff (considering the price) and well packaged. Would definately buy from them again - although they're site is a pain to get around, remember your product reference numbers! :P |

Had a good experience of these guys. Bought a GeForce off them around a year ago and was forced to return it about 5 months after because of an incompatibility between the card and the chipset on my mobo. They arranged the RMA without a hitch. The problem was that i had to wait about 4 weeks for my refund as after around two calls a week saying they hadnt received it, it finally \'appeared\' on the postroom floor. not impressed - but i did get my full sale price refund. |

For all my sins, I will confess that I used to work in an Upgrade centre in Maplins (hey, i was made redundant and needed some cash! :cash: ) I can honestly say that the prices they charge for PC components (with the exception of their mobo/cpu/cooler bundles) are nearly TWICE the price of other places. For example, when 128Mb FX5200s were around about £60, Maplins were charging £110. Likewise QTec 550W PSUs, OcUK £30, Maplins £80. Not only this but often the products on sale were tat. I remeber the dreaded curse of the Elite K7VZA which was sold as part of a bundle with a cpu and cooler. Of the ~100 sold, ~70 were validly returned as faulty. And this wasnt an isolated case, we often had problems with whole batches of dead HDDs as they were never foam packed and the warehouse staff liked playing football with the boxes, modems whose driver CDs didnt have the driver for that modem. I could continue. I would say that most people have a dim view of Maplins\' pc \'knowledgable\' staff, and whilst the techies where i worked were well informed, often other stores had schoolkids who\'s experience of IT was using word 95 at school working in the technical dept. I kid ye not. Admittedly their prices for components, ie LEDs, ICs etc are pretty good (most likely because there are few retail competitors to compare against). If you want buy PC comps from Maplins, you should consider saving your cash for a lobotomy. |

They're prices are normally the cheapest anywhere in the UK, like for like. I've bought a few items from OcUK, always been good service and arrived within 2 working days. Only problem i had was the courier delivering to the wrong company, who had a similar name to the place i was working, but this wasn't OcUKs fault. Never had to RMA anything so i can't comment on that. Would definately use them again! |
