Some of Google's adsense ads are not much better with big green “Download” or “Get It Now” buttons and not much else inside the ad space.

I think this will help novice users, but I don't think it'll be long before sites find a way around it.

But for the invalid certificate and stuff like this I'd like the option of a smaller warning - I generally know what I'm doing on the interwebs, and the annoying warnings are more annoying that the problems themselves…

I would say Google are ultimately responsible for the types of ads coming through their adsense service. Could they ban a website for showing misleading ads if they are coming from adsense? Now that would be interesting!
