after a series of driver updates the 4GB memory in the Fury line of cards is more than enough! I wonder if they had 6GB just like the 980Ti….To Be Continued

On the contrary, gigabyte did pretty well with it's g1 and gaming line for nvidia. Their coolers allowed hefty overclocking from what I have read.

Why can't they either extend the pcb or make the cooler size match it?

How long have Sapphire offered a three year warranty for? I seem to remember them only having a two-year warranty in the past?

Until AMD and/or Nvidia get around to releasing a graphics card that can run something like the Witcher 3 at 4k at a decent frame rate and high settings at a decent frame rate, I will be only too happy to wait, until then my R9 290X will have to hold the fort.

You sir, are tripping balls. Sapphire makes the best AMD cards available.

At launch the performance was not that much faster than the GTX980 and now it's close enough to the X and Ti to not matter. This is pritty impressive for the Fury. The GTX980 looks very overpriced and lacking in features now.

Dumping ~250w of heat takes a certain volume of fins, there's not much that can be done about that - so if they made the cooler only as long as the card then either it'd have to be insanely thick or they'd have to lower the clocks of the card to take less power (and call it the fury nano ;) ). Extending the pcb would add to the cost for little point, since fury takes up so little space on the card, and it probably helps with the cooling - the fins on the end will be cooling more efficiently since there's no pcb impeding air motion through the fins, so there will be more air flowing through that end section.

great card if you just want to keep it for a yr .. hbm 2 comming soon then i'll bite .. need a gpu to last 3 yrs then they go into the wifes pc .. :)

I have currently 4x Sapphire cards (HD5850 Toxic/Tri-X 290 OC/Vapor-X 290X/ Tri-X Fury), so like the company.

I currently believe the Asus Fury Strix is best PCB a) solid chokes (perhaps no coil whine???) b) 12 phase VRM, even if don't push card more phases = load spread more = cooler running, etc. Strix PCB images Front Back

Having fewer visible components doesn't mean they're cutting back in the sense of it being a lesser product necessarily - they may have combined components into a more expensive controller, or used a more sophisticated part that removes the need for other components up/downstream.
