Will I be able to play Freecell on this? :)
Posted by jag272 - Thu 06 Aug 2015 09:39
Very nice prize, but that also means it's gonna be a fierce competition with a lot of outsiders finding it, I guess we wouldn't get a prize this big as a Hexus exclusive though.

Regardless, good luck everyone.

Sounds like a beast, and I qualify for free delivery :)

Just wish they'd drop the PS2 mouse and the VGA ports! Party like it's 1999.

It's a combined PS/2 keyboard and mouse port, and a top quality keyboard lasts a long time. If you bought a £100 keyboard in 1999 there's a good chance it's still going.

The VGA port is a bit more puzzling given Skylake dropped support and CRTs don't last half as well. I'm guessing it was available as a side effect on some other chip and Asus couldn't come up with anything more useful to fill the gap.

To be completely fair I'm still using a VGA monitor despite building this PC not too long ago (November last year iirc) simply because I stuck with my old one as it wouldn't fit in budget. It's starting to show it's age but 16:10 and 1440x900 is still plenty for me, though I'm looking at upgrading to an ASUS 1080p monitor sometime so I can get off VGA. VGA has been fine for me though.

Completely agree on the keyboard sentiment, I'm using a generic microsoft keyboard and it uses PS2.

They're useless cards so putting them into competitions is a good way to reduce stock

Either the entrance requirements for this contest have changed or my ability to recall them has somewhat diminished, either way, there's nothing to see here, please move along.

Well, we're not “giving gifts” at all. So no, we haven't “given” any to Turkey, but then, we haven't given any to any other country either, including the UK, where we are based.

These are prizes in competitions. And winners can, and often are, based all over the world, including to name but a few, Belarus, Philippines, Australia, Poland, France, Russian Federation, Canada, US, Hungary, and many, many more, providing only that a specific competition is open to worldwide entrants.

Winners are selected on a fully automatic, random basis and as long as winners are eligible for a specific competition, a few of which are UK-only, location is not a factor in either winning, or not.

Oh and by the way, Turkey IS on the list of countries including winners. Most recently, I believe, a Galaxy S5 smartphone.

Awesome! Though for £1.5k you'd thin they'd give you a decent looking case too - wouldn't look out of place in the office without the side window.

tbf Saracen, I think this is more of a language thing, from my experience (a fair bit) of dealing with people who's first language isn't english, they often substitute words, and don't quite mean what they are saying, if you take it literally. You have to read with an eye to interpreting the meaning. But I appreciate its worth being clear about these things, to remove abiguity :D
